Arsenal have had their ups and downs this season, but, ultimately, there’s been a lot to be positive about in north London this term.

In fact, Arsenal are fancied to get past PSG by some.

There’s plenty of be happy about at the Emirates this season, and there have been some star performances from some top players.

William Saliba is arguably the best defender in the world after his performances this term, while Bukayo Saka has been a world-class player for a while now.

Speaking to Goal, Jamie Carragher has been asked to name who he thinks Arsenal’s best player has been this season, and he stayed away from Saka and Saliba, picking another Arsenal player when giving his answer.

Jamie Carragher picks Declan Rice as Arsenal’s Player of the Season

Carragher was asked to name the Player of the Season for each and every Premier League club.

Arsenal were up first, and Carragher, interestingly, picked Declan Rice as his Player of the Season for Arsenal.

The midfielder has earned huge praise recently, particularly after his two fantastic free-kick goals against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Rice has been excellent since signing for Arsenal, and Carragher believes he’s been the Gunners’ very best player this season.

Declan Rice may well be Arsenal’s Player of the Year this year, and if he wins this award, he’ll be adding his name to a very prestigious roll of honour.

Indeed, Arsenal’s list of Player of the Year winners is packed full of legendary figures, and Rice would love to add his name to this list.

There are no prizes for guessing which player has won the most Player of the Year awards at Arsenal.

Thierry Henry, has, unsurprisingly, won the most Player of the Year awards at Arsenal, while the likes of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard have two each as well.

Rice is looking to win his first award of this kind come the end of the season, and, based on his performances so far this term, he could well be in line to take home this trophy come the end of the season.
