Newcastle are among the clubs targeting Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, talkSPORT understands.

The forward, who is valued at £50million by the west London side, has been on fire this season with 18 goals and six assists in the Premier League.

Mbeumo’s contract runs until the end of the 2025/26 season but the club does hold an option to extend by a further year.

The Cameroonian, alongside his strike partner Yoane Wissa, has led Brentford to 11th in the league.

That would be their second highest finish since the Bees’ first ever Premier League season in 2021/22.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Thomas Frank was asked about the chances of Mbeumo remaining a Brentford player after the summer window.

He replied: “That’s a good question. I’m the head coach, I want my best players to stay forever.

“I know Bryan is very happy being here at Brentford. He is thriving, he’s doing well, he’s playing fantastic.

“What happens in the future? I don’t know. I’ve said many times, we are a selling club.”

In recent years Brentford have sold star forwards Neal Maupay, Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney.

Frank continued: “If the right price, and that’s going to be expensive, is coming I’m pretty sure that the club will be open for it.”

When asked what the ‘right price’ would be the head coach said ‘a lot’.

Newcastle, who currently sit third in the Premier League are looking to bolster their squad with the expectation of Champions League football.

The Magpies experienced hardship last time they were amongst Europe’s elite, exiting at the 2023/24 group stages, despite a famous win over Paris Saint-Germain.

With Callum Wilson’s contract expiring at the end of this campaign Eddie Howe has the perfect opportunity to fill the void with someone who can elevate the side.

Mbeumo will also provide excellent competition for Jacob Murphy, who has impressed as the season has gone on.

Before Mohamed Salah signed a new contract with Liverpool, the club were told to consider Mbeumo as a potential replacement for the Egyptian.

The Reds are still expecting outgoings from their frontline this summer, despite Salah deciding to stay on Merseyside.

Darwin Nunez who has become surplus to requirements has been linked to clubs in Saudi Arabia and Spain which could fund the incoming of Mbeumo.
