Real Madrid have received a double fitness boost ahead of Sunday’s La Liga clash against Celta Vigo, with both Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe training alongside their teammates on Thursday.
Vinicius was replaced in the latter stages of normal time against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final last weekend due to an injury problem, while Mbappe did not start El Clasico, having not fully recovered from an ankle issue.
Mbappe went on to score against Barcelona, but the France international was unable to help his side claim the victory, as Jules Kounde decided the final in the latter stages of extra-time with a low strike into the corner.
It has been a tough few days for Real Madrid on the injury front, with Ferland Mendy, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba out for the remainder of the season, joining Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga on the sidelines.
Vinicius, Mbappe set to be available for Celta clash
Neither Vinicius nor Mbappe trained alongside their teammates on Wednesday, with the duo instead working in the gym.
However, the pair were pictured taking part in the full session on Thursday, and they are set to be available for the team’s league fixture against Celta on Sunday, which is a must-win fixture for the club.
Real Madrid are currently second in the La Liga table, four points behind the leaders Barcelona, but the gap could be seven points by the time that they take to the field, with Barcelona playing Real Valladolid on Saturday night.
Mbappe has scored 33 goals and registered four assists in 50 appearances for Real Madrid this season, while Vinicius has come up with 20 goals and 14 assists in 48 appearances in all competitions.
Youngsters drafted in for Real Madrid’s training session
Jacobo Ramon, Mario Rivas, Lorenzo Aguado, Chema and Yuri were also pictured training with the first team on Thursday, with head coach Carlo Ancelotti looking to youth to fill the gaps which have been left by injuries.
On a positive note, though, Jude Bellingham and Lucas Vazquez are both available despite their red cards in El Clasico, with the latter’s two-game suspension set to be served in next season’s Copa del Rey, while the former’s sending off was revoked.
