Real Madrid forward Rodrygo is reportedly giving serious consideration to leaving Bernabeu this summer.
The Brazil international made the move to Los Blancos from Santos in July 2019, and he has represented the Spanish and European champions on 267 occasions in all competitions, scoring 68 goals and registering 50 assists in the process.
This season, the 24-year-old has 13 goals and 10 assists in 50 outings for Carlo Ancelotti‘s side, but his recent performances have been called into question, which has led to speculation surrounding his future.
Rodrygo found it difficult to make his mark in both legs of Real Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final defeat to Arsenal, while he also struggled in the final of the Copa del Rey against Barcelona, which led to him being withdrawn at the break.
According to Marca, the Brazilian is currently considering his future with Real Madrid, and he could decide to seek a move away from the capital giants during this summer’s transfer window.
The report claims that Rodrygo believes that his time at Real Madrid ‘is coming to an end’, with a lot of focus being placed on fellow attackers Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.
Rodrygo ‘considering leaving Real Madrid’ this summer
Bayer Leverkusen‘s Xabi Alonso is widely expected to arrive as the new head coach, and it is understood that only a personal request from the Spaniard would convince the Brazilian to stay at Bernabeu.
There will not be a shortage of interest in Rodrygo, with teams from the Saudi Pro League believed to be keeping a close eye on the situation.
Due to Rodrygo’s age and standing in world football, he would command a salary that would make him among the top earners in world football, but it is thought that he wants to continue his career in Europe for the moment.
Arsenal and Chelsea have previously been credited with an interest in the forward, and he would be a statement signing for either of those clubs, having been a key part of a Real Madrid side that has enjoyed so much success of late.
Should Real Madrid let Rodrygo leave?
There have been suggestions that Alonso would want to switch Real Madrid back to a 4-3-1-2 formation next season, as that brought so much success for the club last season.
Bellingham would move back into the number 10 position, which suits him more, leaving two spots in the final third, with Vinicius and Mbappe likely to fill them.
As a result, Rodrygo could find himself out in the cold next season if he stays at Real Madrid, so a big-money sale of the Brazilian this summer makes a lot of sense, with a price tag in the region of €82m (£70m) certainly not unreasonable considering his talent.
