Report: Bayern Munich is in “very advanced negotiations” to sign Chilean midfielder Felipe Loyola

Well, this has come out of nowhere.

As of now, Bayern Munich’s business for the summer transfer window has been limited to the signing of TSG Hoffenheim’s Tom Bischof. Understandably so, considering summer has not even started yet. But equally, the FIFA Club World Cup, starting in mid-June, might force the Bavarians to start their business a little earlier this year.

And, according to reporter César Luis Merlo and Uriel Lugt (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern may be in the process of finalizing their second signing of the summer in Felipe Loyola:

Bayern are in ‘very advanced’ negotiations to sign Felipe Loyola (24), who can play in midfield and right-back, from [Argentine club] Independiente. The club is in the final stages of closing the transfer for around €20m.

Argentine sports channel TyC Sports (again captured by @iMiaSanMia) backs up the claim:

Bayern are serious about Loyola and are considering offering €15-20m to sign him. The rights to Loyola are shared by Independiente (50%) and [previous club] Huachipato FC (50%), so each club would get half the fee. The player is very open to the move and Independiente are already looking for a replacement.

But @iMiaSanMia also captured reporter Mario Krischel, of German news outlet kicker, refuting this news:

Felipe Loyola is not a topic at FC Bayern, contrary to what was reported in Argentina.

Some very basic information on Loyola is that he usually plays as a midfielder, but he can double as a right back as well. The dual Chile/Spanish citizen has only ever played in South America and only at Chilean clubs until last year, as he moved to Indepediente for around €1.65 million euros.

Who is to be believed? The German source? Or the ones from South America? Time will tell who has the right information.
