While Virgil van Dijk perhaps has no say on Liverpool’s transfer activity, it would be wise for the Reds’ recruits to consult him if a player interests them.
The Dutchman is a legend of the game and one of the best players in the world which makes his feedback worth its weight in gold.
Being Liverpool’s captain as well, Virgil van Dijk will naturally be hoping that the club sign the best possible players.
Van Dijk revealed Liverpool’s summer plans are ambitious and if the Reds do spend big, they would not like their investment to be wasted on players who fit Arne Slot’s system.
The Premier League champions seem like they mean business, with Liverpool sending scouts to watch Jorrel Hato — who is valued at £40 million by Ajax amongst many other players ahead of next season.
Virgil van Dijk is a “big fan” of Liverpool transfer target Jorrel Hato
Liverpool have been eyeing Jorrel Hato for months and a player as versatile as him could prove to a very handy addition to Arne Slot’s roster.
With Liverpool tracking Milos Kerkez as well as Hato, who has mostly played as a left-back this season, their transfer priorities seem crystal clear.
The exciting news for Liverpool fans is that if they do sign Hato, one man who is a huge admirer of his is Van Dijk, as revealed by the Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele: “Mail Sport first trailed their interest in Milos Kerkez way back in November and they remain in the race for Bournemouth’s Hungary left back. Jorrel Hato at Ajax has also been mooted.”
“But talk about him has cooled somewhat recently, though Virgil van Dijk is said to be a big fan.”
Ajax star Jordan Henderson revealed how good Jorrel Hato is
Hato confirmed being at Anfield earlier this season after being invited by his Dutch teammate Ryan Gravenberch.
What should encourage Liverpool is that apart from Van Dijk, even their former skipper and now-Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson loves Hato.
Henderson told Ajax’s official website how brilliant the 19-year-old is as a player and a character:”It’s crazy how young he is, but obviously how mature he looks when he’s on the pitch and also off the pitch.
“He’s a very mature person, works hard, fantastic player. And yeah, he has a bright future ahead of him, I’m sure. I think he just needs to continue to do what he’s he’s been doing. Obviously, it’s been working for him. I’ll try to help him and also the players if they ask for a little bit of advice off the field. If I can help them, I’m sure I’ll try and do that, of course.”
