Arsenal could set an unwanted club record in Saturday’s Premier League home clash against Bournemouth.

The Gunners will have to pick themselves up after falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat in Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will have more than one eye on Wednesday’s return leg in Paris, but first, they will look to consolidate second spot in the Premier League by claiming all three points in their meeting with Bournemouth.

Mikel Arteta‘s have found wins hard to come by in recent Premier League matches, having had to settle for draws in three of their previous four top-flight outings.

They gave up leads in each of those three draws, including on two occasions in their most recent league clash against Crystal Palace.

Arsenal looking to avoid unwanted record

In total, Arsenal have failed to win nine Premier League matches in which they have led this season, leaving them on the brink of setting an unwanted Premier League record.

The Gunners are potentially one game away from failing to win 10 Premier League games from a leading position for the first time in a single season.

However, they may fancy their chances of taking all three points from Saturday’s fixture, having won each of their previous eight competitive home games against the Cherries.

Impressively, Arsenal have netted at least three goals in five of those victories, including a 3-0 win in last year’s home meeting with Andoni Iraola‘s side.

England international Declan Rice is on the brink of reaching a notable appearance milestone in his Arsenal career.

Having featured in 99 competitive games for the Gunners, the 26-year-old could reach a century of Arsenal appearances in Saturday’s contest.

Rice is expected to make his 31st start of the Premier League season, as long as Arteta does not rest him ahead of Wednesday’s crucial meeting with PSG.

The Arsenal boss will have to cope without the services of Gabriel Magalhaes, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Jesus due to injury, while Bournemouth loanee Neto is ineligible to face his parent club.

Kai Havertz and Jorginho also remain unavailable for selection, although Arteta has revealed there is a possibility that the pair could return before the end of the season.
