Luis Suarez breaks silence after Inter Miami’s shocking Champions Cup exit vs. Vancouver Whitecaps

After the sudden elimination in the CONCACAF Champions Cup against Vancouver Whitecaps, Inter Miami star Luis Suarez broke the silence with a message to the fans.

Inter Miami suffered a crushing 3–1 defeat at Chase Stadium against the Vancouver Whitecaps, bringing an end to their 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup run. Following the semifinal elimination, team star Luis Suarez broke his silence and shared a heartfelt message with fans.

Trailing 0–2 from the first leg, Inter Miami needed a dramatic comeback—similar to the one they pulled off against LAFC in the quarterfinals. While they struck first through Jordi Alba, the Whitecaps responded with a dominant second half to seal a 3–1 win on the night and a 5–1 aggregate victory. It was a disappointing outing in which Miami’s stars failed to deliver.

After the match, Suarez took to social media to reflect on the team’s exit. “A sad and painful night we experienced yesterday after the elimination—we had the hope of fighting until the end. Now it’s time to lift our heads and stay united as a team, looking ahead,” the Uruguayan wrote on an Instagram post.

Suárez assisted Alba’s opener in the ninth minute but once again struggled to find the back of the net. With Inter Miami now out of the Champions Cup, their focus will shift back to MLS play as they prepare for the FIFA Club World Cup in June.

Suarez’s recent struggles in front of goal

Suarez joined Inter Miami in 2024, eager to reunite with longtime teammate Lionel Messi. His first season was prolific—scoring 25 goals and adding 12 assists in 37 appearances, averaging a goal contribution per game, and he’s currently the 4th top scorer of the club with 29.

However, 2025 has been a different story. Under new head coach Javier Mascherano, Suarez has registered just four goals and seven assists in 16 matches. His scoring form has dipped significantly.

The semifinal series against Vancouver extended Suarez’s goal drought to nine games. His last goal came on March 13 against Cavalier SC. With a key MLS matchup against the New York Red Bulls on the horizon, all eyes will be on the veteran striker to see if this is just a slump—or a sign of deeper concerns about his long-term form.
