The summer transfer window is almost upon us, and, once again, the Premier League’s top dogs are going to do battle over some big-name players.
Indeed, a lot of the top teams in the Premier League need to add quality to their squads this summer, and a number of transfer battles may be about to ensue, particularly involving Liverpool.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal want to sign Alexander Isak this summer, while Manchester City are keen on Milos Kerkez – Kerkez has also been linked to Liverpool.
Kerkez isn’t the only Bournemouth player on Liverpool’s radar either, Liverpool are keen on Dean Huijsen too, but, according to The Athletic, the Reds don’t necessarily believe they’re favourites to sign Dean Huijsen.
Liverpool believe Chelsea are favourites to sign Dean Huijsen
According to The Athletic, the view at Liverpool is that Chelsea are favourites to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth.
The Spaniard has a £50m release clause in his contract, and while Liverpool are keen, the view within Anfield is that Chelsea lead this race right now.
Of course, things can quickly change in the transfer market, as we’ve seen so often in recent years.
Chelsea have been linked with Huijsen recently, the Blues do need a new centre-back.
Ian Wright wants Chelsea to sign an experienced defender, but Enzo Maresca may well end up signing a 19-year-old instead.
Signings Chelsea have beaten Liverpool to
Liverpool believe Chelsea could beat them to the signing of Huijsen, and there’s a distinct feeling of deja vu here.
Indeed, Chelsea have been a real thorn in Liverpool’s side in the transfer market over the years, and they’ve beaten the Blues to some key signings.
Signings Chelsea have beaten Liverpool to |
Moises Caicedo |
Romeo Lavia |
Mohamed Salah |
Timo Werner |
Chelsea beat Liverpool to Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia two years ago, much to the annoyance of Jamie Carragher.
Going even further back, Liverpool were strongly linked with Timo Werner before his move to Chelsea. Although, perhaps that one worked out for the best.
Interestingly, Mohamed Salah almost joined Liverpool in 2014, but headed to Chelsea instead.
Of course, Salah would make his way to Anfield in 2017 before becoming a club legend on Merseyside.
Chelsea have a habit of beating Liverpool to key transfer targets, and they may do the same again with Huijsen this summer.
