The Red Devils have been in pursuit of the Brazil international in wake of his outstanding 2024/25 campaign for Wolves.

Indeed, Manchester United may well be in pole position now, as TBR Football previously reported how the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool have cooled their interest in Cunha.

Now, there has been another exciting development on the Matheus Cunha to Man United front.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Man United are pushing hard to complete a deal for Cunha by the end of the season – and sources believe they are on track.

In addition, sources have told TBR Football that Cunha has now given priority to Man United.

Despite interest from others, he wants to move to Old Trafford – and personal terms are all but agreed.

As we recently revealed, Man United were informed early on that Wolves would take payments over Cunha’s £60million clause.

However, the Red Devils and the Molineux outfit still need to work out the details.

What Matheus Cunha has said about potential Wolves departure

Cunha has made it clear he’d like to try his luck out at a club that’s fighting for silverware.

Cunha said he is aiming to fight for titles at his next club as he told The Guardian: “Now, we’re close to achieving our goal (of staying up).

“But I’ve made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”

Although Man United are currently miles away from challenging for the Premier League title, they’ve not exactly in the midst of a trophy drought.

The Red Devils won the FA Cup last year, and the League Cup a year earlier, while in 2017, they won the Europa League and another League Cup.

This season, Man United are in the Europa League semi-finals – and of course, with a club the stature of the Red Devils, the ambition for the Premier League and Champions League is always there.

Cunha has been described as ‘phenomenal’ this season and he’d be a Premier League-ready addition to Ruben Amorim’s ranks should a deal get over the line.
