Liverpool boss Arne Slot has revealed exactly what former manager Jurgen Klopp texted him after the Reds won the Premier League.
After comfortably beating Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 last weekend at Anfield, Liverpool cemented themselves as Premier League champions for the 2024/25 season.
Immediately after the full-time whistle, Liverpool players and staff took to the pitch to celebrate winning the club’s 20th domestic title.
One man who was notably absent from the title celebrations, was club legend Klopp, but Slot has now revealed exactly what the former manager said to him after Liverpool were crowned champions.
Having taken over a largely lacklustre side in October 2015 and transforming it into a side that won both the Premier League and the Champions League, Klopp has cemented himself into the history of Liverpool forever.
The German manager left Liverpool after nearly nine years in charge at the end of last season, but has promised to return to the city to celebrate winning the title at some point in the near future.
But Slot has revealed that he heard for his predecessor almost immediately after winning the title, as Klopp sent him a heartwarming text congratulating him on becoming a part of Liverpool’s history.
“Of course (I got) a lot, a lot, a lot of messages. And, yeah, they are nine out of 10 times the same. But they come from a good heart. And it’s always nice to get these messages,” Slot said in a press conference.
“I’ve tried to answer all of them, not by sending big messages back, but I’ve tried to answer all of them. ‘It’s been amazing, especially Sunday. It was, for all the Liverpool fans, one of the best days of their lives, and it was the same for me.
“The way the whole day went… scoring the goals, seeing how much it meant to the players, but also to the fans, was really special to be part of.
“I assume (the most famous person to message) was Jurgen. What did he have to say? Yeah, what most of them said, congratulations, now you know how special of a club it is, now you are part of history as well, these kind of things.

“He was really happy for me, for the players, for the staff, for the fans, like we all know Jurgen, so, yeah. Maybe I forgot a few, but I think he was the most famous.”
Although Klopp missed out on the title-winning performance against Spurs, fans can likely expect the former Reds boss to be in attendance for the trophy presentation on the final day of the season, after their home match against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday 25 May.
It’s also possible that Klopp will stick around to enjoy the celebrations across the city as the Premier League trophy is paraded across Liverpool the following day.
