Why Brentford vs Man United is not on TV as fans unable to watch Premier League clash

5 Min Read

Brentford take on Manchester United this weekend in the Premier League, but fans in the UK won’t be able to watch it on TV.

The Bees are still in contention for a place in the Europa Conference League after a stunning midweek win against Nottingham Forest.

Brentford arrived at the City Ground knowing they needed to win to stand any chance of securing European football, and they sealed a 2-0 win that dented Forest’s own ambitions of playing in Europe.

But it will mean nothing if they can’t follow it up here, having won just one of their 12 last meetings with Manchester United (D2, L9).

The Red Devils are one game away from making the Europa League final after beating Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in their semi-final first leg and will likely rest and rotate players.

Despite the comfortable lead, you would expect Ruben Amorim to make at least a few changes to his starting XI.

Why is Brentford vs Man United not on TV?

When the TV broadcast selections for this weekend were made, this match wasn’t picked.

It was initially scheduled for 3pm on Saturday, but it is instead set to kick off at 2pm on Sunday.

It had to be moved due to Man United’s European commitments, with the club’s win over Bilbao taking place on Thursday.

Due to the recovery time needed for players, the match was pushed back a day, but it wasn’t picked by Sky Sports.

Instead, they’ve picked Newcastle‘s visit to Brighton, in Sunday’s early kick-off, as the Toon chase Champions League football.

Then, later, Chelsea concludes Sky’s Super Sunday coverage by hosting Premier League title winners Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Brentford vs Man United: Team news

Rico Henry played 45 minutes on Thursday against Forest from off the bench and could be in contention to finally start a game.

The left-back has had nearly two years of injury hell, and it is great to see him back.

Aaron Hickey and Igor Thiago are both back in training and stand a chance of featuring before the end of the season.

As mentioned, Man United are likely to rotate.

Amad Diallo is back, so he could get a start, while Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte might come out of the side.

It was a night to remember for Man United

Brentford vs Man United: What has been said?

After beating Forest, it would be fair to say that Thomas Frank was buzzing.

He said: “It was a good away performance. Very solid. I think it is a big strength that we go to a difficult place against a team who have been fantastic all season.

“We were very strong defensively and gave little away. It was only seven out of 10 in my opinion.

“We should have kept the ball better in the second half. We had more possession, and we went 1-0 up, then 2-0. Naturally they pressed us more.

“We knew the counters; we had to be very good and close down those situations. We needed to be good enough to play behind them.

“I think everything is possible. There are four games left. We will try our best to win them.”
