Carlo Ancelotti’s reported start date as Brazil head coach revealed after Real Madrid departure

After the deal almost collapsed, reports suggest that Carlo Ancelotti already has a start date for his duty as Brazil national team head coach once he departs from Real Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti’s future has been one of the hottest topics in recent weeks amid growing speculation over his departure from Real Madrid and reported negotiations with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). While the deal is still in progress, new reports have emerged suggesting an official start date for Ancelotti as Brazil’s national team head coach.

The Italian manager has long been a top target for CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues. With Ancelotti’s exit from Real Madrid expected before the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, a deal seemed imminent. However, an unexpected complication nearly derailed the agreement.

According to Spanish media reports, Real Madrid was aware of Ancelotti’s discussions with the CBF but, with his current contract running through 2026, the club made it clear they would only release him without demanding compensation. That condition left Ancelotti’s departure date uncertain, creating tension between the parties and briefly putting the deal at risk.

Ancelotti’s reported start date with Brazil

According to Diario AS, Ancelotti is now expected to officially take over as Brazil’s head coach once his duties with Real Madrid conclude at the end of May, following the club’s final La Liga match of the season.

When asked about his future in a press conference on Saturday, Ancelotti kept his response vague but pointed to a specific date: “I can clarify it. The truth is I have a lot of affection for my club, my players, and my fans, and I respect them. I will speak about my future on the 25th and not before.

I don’t have to answer you now about what might happen after May 25. What I feel is that I have to prepare well for tomorrow’s game. And after that, the next one, which gives us the chance to keep fighting in this competition,” the Italian coach insisted. That date, May 25, coincides with Real Madrid’s final La Liga fixture of the 2024–25 campaign, at home against Real Sociedad.

As reported by the Spanish outlet, the CBF hopes to finalize Ancelotti’s appointment as early as May 12—just one day after Real Madrid faces Barcelona in a crucial league clash. However, with Madrid still in contention for the La Liga title, the CBF is prepared to wait until the club’s title hopes are resolved or until Ancelotti adds one more trophy to his already illustrious resume with Los Blancos.
