Bayern Munich has its sights set on Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz.

There is no denying it as it is not even a secret any longer. The Bavarians are going full force after Wirtz and if they are successful, they seem pretty sure that a pairing of Wirtz and Jamal Musiala will work:

Bayern still believe they have the best chance of signing Florian Wirtz this summer. The reason is that the club is enjoying positive talks with the player’s father and agent Hans-Joachim Wirtz. Plans are already being devised internally as to how the team can play with both Wirtz and Musiala on the pitch.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: RB Leipzig vs. Bayern Munich (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich will travel to East Germany to face off with a very desperate RB Leipzig, who is clawing to its hopes for European football next season.

Meanwhile, the Bavarians are seeking to clinch a league title in the house that the energy drinks built (figuratively, of course).

Let’s take a look at what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show:

  • A look at where each team is in the table and also a look back at the first match.
  • A look at the injury and suspension situations for both teams.
  • Why Bayern Munich fans should watch this game — get a closer look at Benjamin Šeško and Xavi Simons.
  • A guess at Bayern Munich’s starting XI.
  • A prediction on the match.

Müller to Chicago? (Christian Falk for CaughtOffside via @iMiaSanMia)

Chicago is a great town.

The area around Wrigley Field before a Chicago Cubs game is one of the greatest fan experiences you can have.

There is still no need for Thomas Müller to play in the Windy City:

Chicago Fire also want to sign Thomas Müller after his contract at FC Bayern expires this summer. Chicago want their former player Bastian Schweinsteiger to help them and try to convince Müller to join their project. However, for the time being, Los Angeles FC remain the clear favourites to clinch Müller’s signature should he decide to move to the MLS.

Rodrygo out at Real? (ESPN)

Rodrygo might be feeling like the attack is a little crowded at Real Madrid and is reportedly looking for an exit — unless Xabi Alonso can convince him to stay:

Brazil international Rodrygo is considering leaving Real Madrid this summer with several top European clubs interested, Marca reports. The winger is said to be disappointed that his playing style isn’t being catered to by boss Carlo Ancelotti. According to Spanish outlet, only the appointment of Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso could convince Rodrygo to stay put. The likes of Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with the 24-year-old, who is under contract at the Bernabéu until June 2028.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 4, Episode 41 (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich is in the homestretch of the season, but the news surrounding the team continues to heat up. Let’s talk about everything going on with the squad on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:

  • The Frauen have clinched the domestic double.
  • The Florian Wirtz news was all over the place this week. Let’s check in to see where things stand.
  • Why Xabi Alonso’s potential move to Real Madrid might not be enough to sway Wirtz despite reports.
  • Let’s discuss that wild story about Bayern Munich trying to convince Thomas Müller to join LAFC — and how a home in Beverly Hills might be part of the deal.
  • Frans Kratzig, we hardly knew ye.

Bayern eyeing chance to snipe Tah deal (Christian Falk for CaughtOffside via @iMiaSanMia)

Bayern Munich really might be trying to break up the expected FC Barcelona transfer for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah:

Jonathan Tah and Barcelona have yet to reach an agreement. Bayern see an opportunity and want to try and hijack the deal. Max Eberl is a big fan of the defender and wanted him last summer, but he was too expensive. The supervisory board was then unwilling to approve a €25m deal (€20m was the limit). However, Tah is set to become a free agent this summer, which changes things for Bayern’s decision-makers.

Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund also commented on the Jonathan Tah rumours without specifically addressing the Tah situation (the art of public relations).

“We held a lot of [contract] talks with our players. Now we want to secure the title first, then we’ll push ahead with our plans for the summer,” said Freund (via @iMiaSanMia).

Kane on winning awards (L’Equipe via @iMiaSanMia)

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane might win his first trophy today, but he also recently spoke to L’Equipe about winning individual awards.

“I hear this question or this remark very often, as you can imagine. It’s true, for the moment I’ve collected individual awards as top scorer or best player. But I start each season with the aim of winning team trophies and I’m not satisfied with being distinguished only on an individual level. I’m only 31 years old. In the past, at this age it was the beginning of the end,” Kane said. “Today, the way things are going is that we almost reach our prime at 30. And I think that the best Harry Kane is yet to come. I’m very confident about that. And very confident about the fact that the second part of my career, the one that is starting now, will be rich in major trophies. And when I hang up my boots, this will no longer be a topic.”

Bavarian Podcast Works — The Bundesliga Rundown with Marcus Iredahl: Matchday 31 (Bavarian Podcast Works)

  • A dive into a couple of wild results — Holstein Kiel’s 4-3 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 victory over Hoffenheim.
  • Xabi Alonso looks like he is headed to Real Madrid. Is he ready for what lies ahead? Did Bayern Munich miss the boat…or maybe dodge a bullet?

Peretz to Hamburg? Burnley? (Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg via @iMiaSanMia)

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz does not appear to have a future with the club and is drawing interested from Hamburger SV and Burnley:

HSV have joined the race for Daniel Peretz. Concrete talks with the goalkeeper have already taken place. HSV are a serious option for Peretz especially if they get promoted to the Bundesliga. Burnley are also interested and enquired about the player to Vincent Kompany.

Hoeneß happy with Kompany (@FrankLinkesch via @iMiaSanMia)

Bayern Munich legend Uli Hoeneß seems pretty happy with the progress that Vincent Kompany has made this season.

“I’m more than happy [with Kompany]. He exceeded all expectations. There’s more to come, because he’s very hardworking and thinks a lot. I think we’ll still have a lot of fun with him,” Hoeneß said.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show: Season 7, Episode 40 (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich took down Mainz 05 this weekend with a superior effort.

That did not exactly shakeup the Bundesliga landscape, but there is a lot of movement and we will dive headfirst into that. In addition, we’ve got some contract news to talk about and maybe even a little talk about Hansi Flick as well. Let’s not wait any longer, this is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:

  • Final thoughts on Bayern Munich 3-0 win over Mainz 05.
  • A breakdown of the Bundesliga hunt for Europe and the relegation battle.
  • Is bringing back Leroy Sané the right move or does Bayern Munich need to shake things up?
  • Hansi Flick is killing it at FC Barcelona.
  • Did signing Tom Bischof undermine the work being done at Bayern Munich’s Academy?
