Ange Postecoglou has one final chance to salvage Tottenham’s season, with the club just one game away from reaching the Europa League final.
Postecoglou’s second season at Tottenham has been a difficult one, with the club knocked out of all domestic competitions and currently sitting 16th in the Premier League table, with 19 defeats.
Surprisingly so, their European campaign has been impressive. Tottenham created an incredible unbeaten record in Europe with a 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night.
By doing so, they have almost guaranteed a place in the final and are most likely going to face Manchester United, a team they have already beaten thrice this season.
And while there is a big chance that Postecoglou could win Tottenham their first major trophy since 2008, it may not be enough to save his job.
Winning the Europa League may not be enough to save Ange Postecoglou’s job
Speaking on talkSPORT, Tony Cascarino claimed that Tottenham have regressed under the Australian manager this season, and he just can’t see any way Ange gets to save his job even if the club wins the Europa League.
Cascarino said: “I think Ange’s gone whatever. You can’t have a season where you’re sitting in what, 16th in the Premier League.
“You’ve got a new stadium. You’ve got huge revenue, you’ve spent quite big in the transfer market last summer and then justify his reason for staying for a cup run in the Europa League.
“It’s not enough. I think you have to make your decision on the whole of a season of how you’ve done. Ange’s been there two years and you can’t tell me the football you’ve seen has been a progression.
“I’d be amazed if he’s kept in charge of Tottenham. I think the decision is already made. I can’t see how you could make another decision.”
Who could replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham
Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham remains uncertain, and there is no knowing what the club will decide to do if the former Celtic man does deliver silverware.
Fabio Paratici is set to return to Tottenham, and TBR Football has reported that the Italian is set to have the final say on Spurs’ managerial situation.
There remains a possibility that winning the Europa League could save Ange’s job. However, the club has already been linked with replacements.

Thomas Frank has been linked with the Tottenham job, as several names have been touted as potential replacements for the Australian.
Another name linked with the job is the 47-year-old Fulham boss, with Troy Deeney urging Tottenham to appoint Marco Silva.
It remains to be seen whether Ange gets to keep his job if he delivers the Europa League or if he will be sacked.
