Report: Liverpool have held talks with the agent of £30m ace compared to Dani Alves

Liverpool secured their 20th league title last Sunday with a dominant 5-1 win over Tottenham at Anfield.

With the season now essentially wrapped up for the Reds, attention has shifted toward preparations for the next campaign as the summer transfer window approaches.

Mo Salah extended his contract with Liverpool earlier in April and and Virgil van Dijk also signed a new deal with the club.

However, Liverpool are yet to reach an agreement over a new deal with their right-back, with Trent Alexander-Arnold likely to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Liverpool eye move for Wesley to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool have held talks with the agent of Flamengo defender Wesley Franca as they explore a potential move for the highly rated youngster.

The 21-year-old has quickly become one of the most sought-after talents in Brazil, drawing interest from a number of top European clubs thanks to his standout performances.

The report states that Liverpool have been tracking Wesley for over a year and have even made an informal approach to Flamengo regarding a possible deal.

However, the Reds are not alone in the race. The report states that Manchester City have also met with the player’s agent, who recently travelled to England to hold discussions with both Premier League giants.

Chelsea are another club in the mix. Having heavily invested in Brazilian prospects in recent years, the Blues have said to have made initial contact with Wesley’s representatives and are believed to be willing to offer around £17 million for his services.

Flamengo, however, are holding out for a fee in the region of £25 million to £30 million.

Wesley Franca has been compared to Dani Alves

Wesley is a dynamic Brazilian right-back, known for his pace, technical ability, and aggressive attacking runs down the flank.

Having come through Flamengo’s youth academy, he broke into the first team in 2022 and quickly impressed with his energy and willingness to push forward. Since then, he has grown into a key player for the club.

His standout performances have drawn comparisons to Brazilian and Barcelona legend Dani Alves, according to Transfermarkt.

Brazilian players to have signed for Liverpool in recent years

Liverpool have had great success with Brazilian players in recent years — Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho, Alisson Becker, and Fabinho have all made a major impact at Anfield.

And Brazilian football expert Marcos Watts believes he could be a great fit for Liverpool. He said: “Being such an offensive-minded full-back makes him unsuitable for many of the tactical approaches in European football.

“Wesley, however, represents a ‘rare piece’ in terms of being a young talent that would fit Liverpool and Barcelona. If he continues to develop quickly and improves his defensive acumen then he could earn a move to a top five league club and maybe even the Brazilian NT.”
