Brazilian forward Rodrygo is not in the Real Madrid squad for Sunday’s La Liga clash against Celta Vigo.
There is currently a host of speculation when it comes to the 24-year-old’s future, with a move away from the Spanish capital believed to be a serious possibility during this summer’s transfer window.
Rodrygo has found it difficult to make his mark this term, only managing 13 goals and 10 assists in 50 appearances in all competitions, and he was withdrawn at the interval of the Copa del Rey final last weekend.
Premier League clubs are believed to be on red alert when it comes to a potential summer deal, with Chelsea and Arsenal both previously credited with an interest in the former Santos youngster.
Rodrygo was a notable absentee when Real Madrid confirmed their squad for Sunday’s clash with Celta, and according to journalist Sergio Quirante, an illness has made him unavailable for selection.

Rodrygo not in Real Madrid squad for Celta clash
As a result, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti could switch to a 4-3-1-2 formation against Celta, with Jude Bellingham potentially playing behind a front two of Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe.
Real Madrid are yet to release an official statement on Rodrygo, which has led to speculation that he has been overlooked due to the transfer talk, but that is not believed to be the case.
That said, there is thought to be a real possibility that the Brazil international could leave Bernabeu at the end of the campaign.
Rodrygo made the move to Real Madrid from Santos in July 2019, and he has represented the reigning Spanish champions on 267 occasions in all competitions, scoring 68 goals and registering 50 assists in the process.

As a result, Youssef Lekhedim and Jacobo Ramon have both been called into the squad to provide much-needed defensive cover.
There is also a spot in the squad for Jesus Vallejo, who has only played 10 minutes of first-team football this season, and head coach Ancelotti said during his pre-match press conference that the Spaniard could have a role to play before the end of the campaign.
Real Madrid are currently second in the La Liga table, four points behind the leaders Barcelona.
