You gotta be a film rat.

No striker is immune to a goal drought, and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane proved no different.

The England captain had failed to score from open play from mid-November to Bayern’s recent 2-1 win over SC Freiburg. But that does not mean he has not been at work, constantly obsessing over ways to score.

“I do a lot of video indeed. I watch my movements, what I could have done differently,” Kane explained in a January interview for L’Équipe, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “I think it’s very important to continue to be in research, all the time, because, given the competitiveness of modern football, if you rest on your laurels, you’re doomed.

“Regarding the upcoming opponents, the staff is doing a remarkable job of presenting us with the opposition we will face. For my part, I often look more particularly at the defenders I will come up against, to study their profiles, their strengths, what they don’t like, their movement zones and their way of defending.”

Perhaps that sort of insight was just what enabled Kane to spin away from his defender and score a stunning strike against Freiburg to finally break his open play scoring drought . More of that, please!
