Unfortunately, the Bavarians were unable to crush The Cans today.
Bayern Munich’s clash with Rasenballsport Leipzig looked to be ending in disaster after a very poor first half, which saw the Bavarians losing 2-0. The league leaders came roaring back after half time, however, seemingly completing a 3-2 comeback win before more drama saw The Cans draw level in the dying embers of the match.
Speaking after the match, board member for sport Max Eberl chose to approach the draw with a positive disposition:
“The atmosphere in the dressing room is very positive. We played an average first half. But then we came back brilliantly,” the former Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “Leipzig’s lucky punch at the end is frustrating. But we’re now nine points ahead, which is another step towards the title. We see the glass as half full, as we came back from 2-0 behind. Leipzig are going through a difficult phase, but they’re a good team. We dominated them in the end. Now we want to wrap up the title at home, and our full focus is now on Gladbach. We’re still happy with the point here, even if the ending was obviously frustrating.”
On one hand, throwing away a win like that is simply not ever the expectation at Bayern. Especially when Bayern could have further helped deny the Lawnballers a spot in the Champions League. On the other, it virtually sealed the title for Die Rekordmeister.
