Liverpool will already be putting plans in place to improve Arne Slot’s side ahead of another duel with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City next season.
Slot has won the Premier League with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad, and there must be a lot of excitement about what the Dutchman can achieve by adding one or two of his own players.
By all accounts, Liverpool want to sign Milos Kerkez and that does appear a very clever signing given Andrew Robertson’s form.
Robertson hasn’t been poor by any means — he’s started in a league winning side.
However, some signs of decline have been evident in the 31-year-old’s game, and Kostas Tsimikas still isn’t necessarily an upgrade.
Of course, when it comes to upgrading Liverpool’s eleven, Slot also needs a new striker too.
Liverpool interested in Atalanta striker Mateo Retegui
That being said, Anfield Watch are now reporting that Liverpool are interested in signing Mateo Retegui at Atalanta.
The report detailed that there were now two Italians on Liverpool’s watchlist with Lazio’s Nicolo Rovella also being considered for Slot’s midfield.

But it’s undoubtedly Liverpool’s interest in 27-goal Retegui which stand out to fans at Anfield the most.
Darwin Nunez is poised to leave Liverpool by most accounts and 26-year-old Retegui is seemingly now a candidate to replace the Uruguayan.
Retegui has 24 goals in 32 Serie A matches this season and he’s comfortably en route to win the golden boot.
Those who watched the Italy international at the Euros last summer will know that Retegui is a very determined character, a striker with some Luis Suarez type characteristics in terms of his pressing and tenacity.
Mikel Arteta said no to Mateo Retegui
Interestingly, Arsenal were offered Retegui in January, something TBR Football exclusively revealed.
Mikel Arteta was offered the chance to sign Retegui alongside the likes of Moises Kean, who is also thriving in Italy this season.
However, the Gunners ultimately opted not to buy a striker in January despite the options that were presented their way.
In terms of his price tag, Retegui might cost around £40m for interested clubs this summer — a very reasonable sum given his age and goalscoring.
Well-regarded Italian manager Luciano Spaletti called Retegui a ‘complete player’ recently and perhaps he could be more a success than Federico Chiesa moving from Serie A.
Chiesa might leave Liverpool after just one season this summer, a player who simply hasn’t been able to find a route into the XI.
