Roberto Firmino has conveyed his joy over Liverpool clinching the Premier League title once more and noted his particular happiness for ex-colleague Mohamed Salah.
The Brazilian, whose eight-year stint at Anfield included being a member of the 2020 squad that concluded Liverpool’s 30-year wait for a top-flight crown, departed the club following the expiration of his contract at the close of the 2022-23 season to embark on a new journey with Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli.
Despite leaving Anfield, the ex-Hoffenheim maestro has remained attentive to Liverpool’s exploits and dedicated some time to laud their recent achievement of a record-equalling 20th league title after his team clinched AFC Champions League success on a Saturday night.
In an exchange with WinWin about the Reds’ triumph and Salah’s role in it, Firmino expressed: “I’m happy for Liverpool and for what Mohamed Salah has achieved.
“I think we have a great friendship, and we’ve built a beautiful history together. If he’s watching me now, I’m very proud of him and his friendship.”
The celebrated trio of Firmino, Salah, and Sadio Mane were integral figures at Anfield from 2017 to 2022, during which period they propelled the Reds to glory in the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup, Premier League, League Cup, and FA Cup.
However, the iconic forward line was disbanded mere days following Liverpool’s loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final at the finale of the 2021-22 season when Mane transferred to Bayern Munich.

A year later, Firmino bid farewell to Anfield and joined the Saudi Pro League at the end of his contract. Salah continues to net goals for Liverpool and, following an outstanding season with 33 goals and 23 assists across all competitions, he inked a new two-year deal with the club last month.
After leading Al Ahli to their maiden AFC Champions League victory on Saturday night, Firmino expressed: “We had to put in a lot of effort, and I’m very happy. I’m proud of my team and my teammates, and I’m also happy for the fans and the players’ families”.
“I am very grateful to God for giving me this talent. I tried to do my best to give back to the viewers and our fans, and thank God we won the title.
