Sky Sports apologize after X-rated Cole Palmer verdict in UK broadcast

Sky Sports presenter Kelly Cates had to issue an apology after Chelsea attacking midfielder Cole Palmer let slip some choice words during his post-game analysis.

Despite Liverpool just recently claiming the Premier League crown, the Reds faced a minor setback with a 3-1 loss at Stamford Bridge. An early strike from Enzo Fernandez put Enzo Maresca’s team in the lead, followed by a strange own-goal from Jarell Quansah shortly into the second half.

Although Virgil van Dijk managed to claw one back, it was Palmer’s injury-time penalty that completely sealed the victory for his side. When quizzed about his goal by Sky Sports, Palmer remarked: “I just felt normal. Obviously s— happens… sorry for my language, it happens.”

Palmer went on to say: “I went three months without scoring. But it just gives me more fight and motivation to do more for myself and for the team.”

Additionally, he addressed online negativity, saying: “Social media nowadays is full of idiots, the trolls and whatever. I don’t pay any attention to that. I’ve scored today, and I’m happy, but it’s only one and I’ve got to keep improving and try and reach new levels.”

After wrapping up the interview, Sky returned to the studio where Cates extended apologies for Palmer’s language. She stated: “A player of the match performance from Cole Palmer there, we have to apologize again for the swearing.”

Lastly, Palmer discussed the victory over the champions, saying: “They’re champions for a reason but we showed good fight and desire. Getting chances and not scoring, it feels like you’re letting your team down.

“I feel like I am mentally strong anyway. I feel pride in helping the team and if I’m not doing that, I’m not happy.

“Today I felt confident, I was trying things, first time passes, playing forward. When you have got him [Moises Caicedo] in front of you, it’s a dream.

“From the start of the season, he has been our best player, he wins the ball back all the time, he’s humble, nice to everyone and everyone loves him.”

Caicedo then told Sky: “I think we did well. The team showed character. We are happy that we won this game.

“Cole he’s an amazing guy. Always train hard, so happy for him. He helps us a lot even when he didn’t score. He’s a great guy and he deserves everything.”
