Bruno Fernandes has reportedly been offered a “mega-money deal” to join Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal this summer – and they could also be in the market for two more elite players.
Fernandes, 30, has been a shining light in an otherwise under-performing Manchester United side during the 2024/25 campaign as the Red Devils are 15th in the Premier League with just three games to play this term.
The United captain has registered 19 goals and 18 assists in 52 appearances this term and will prove difficult to replace if he were to leave Old Trafford this summer.
On Monday (May 5), reports emerged linking the Portugal international with a move away from the club and journalist Fabrizio Romano issued an update on the situation via X.
“Al Hilal have genuine interest in Bruno Fernandes as one of their top targets this summer,” Romano wrote.
“Man United see Bruno as crucial player, same for Rúben Amorim — no talks have started between clubs, no bid or club to club approach. Man Utd insist on clear plan to keep Bruno.”
He added: “He’s been a top target for Saudis already two years ago and last summer too, before he signed a new deal at Man United.
“Rúben Amorim considers Bruno as a key, crucial piece of his project, and clearly doesn’t want Bruno to leave.”

It is unclear whether the United skipper would be willing to trade life in the Premier League for a Saudi transfer, given the fact that he has shown no signs of slowing down since turning 30.
Although he may be tempted by the £80-100m per year salary that Al Hilal are willing to offer him, as reported by the Mail. The outlet also claims United’s stance is that Fernandes is not for sale.
It is also reported that the SPL club want to sign a striker and right winger, with Napoli striker – currently on loan at Galatasaray – Victor Osimhen and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo both high on the club’s list of targets.
Ruben Amorim on Bruno Fernandes’ future
United head coach Amorim, 40, already made his feelings clear about Fernandes potentially leaving, when he spoke during a press conference in March.
“I want Bruno here because we want to win the Premier League again, so we want the best players,” Amorim said. “He’s [30] but still so [fit], plays 55 games every season and between assists and goals he’s there for 30 at least, so he’s not going anywhere.”
“We are in control of the situation and I feel that he is really happy here,” he added.
“Sometimes, the frustration that everybody sees and [they] maybe say is not a good thing in a captain, but it’s a sign he wants this [success] so bad. He’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him.”
