Alexis Mac Allister sends exciting Liverpool message after Premier League win

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is loving life at Anfield and he hopes that winning the Premier League this season is just the start of something even more special that can be achieved under Arne Slot.

Signed for a fee of around $47 million (£35 million) from Brighton in 2023, Mac Allister was a standout performer in his debut campaign under Jurgen Klopp. And the South American arguably fits the way that Slot wants to play even more than the German who brought him to Merseyside.

“I didn’t feel that we were going to win the league as easily as we did, because we are in a process that is just getting started,” Mac Allister said as he reflected on becoming a Premier League champion.

“For many, [moving away from Klopp] was a big change,” he added. “The coach and the team know that we can continue to improve, and hopefully this is the beginning of something great.”

Mac Allister got himself on the scoresheet on the day that Liverpool confirmed the Premier League title against Spurs. The Argentine scored a screamer to put the Reds ahead for the first time in the Tottenham game.

“The goal against Tottenham is the most important goal of my career,” Mac Allister said. “I don’t know if it’s the best I’ve ever scored, but it’s definitely the most important.

“I’m happy with the season I’ve had. I think I’m in the best moment of my career, and I can show in this great club what I can do. But I always said that I depend a lot on my team, I met players who helped me a lot in my game.”

Next season, Liverpool will want to progress further in the Champions League, having been knocked out of Europe by PSG in the last-16 this time around. In his second campaign at the helm, Slot will be aiming to win that trophy too.

“We were unlucky in the draw, we got a great team,” Mac Allister, speaking to ESPN, said. “It’s hard to say, but we would have loved to have gone further.

“Either team could have reached the semi-finals. They were better on penalties, but next year we’re going to fight.”

Liverpool.com says: The player of the year for Liverpool is Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. In the next group down, though, Alexis Mac Allister comes right near the top of the list.

In the center of the Liverpool midfield, the 24-year-old has gone up another level. At times, his technique and quality in possession really help dictate games.

Slot has been all about exerting control on opponents in matches and there are few better at doing that, in possession, than Mac Allister. Usually alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai, he has been sensational.
