Arsenal have reportedly prepared to renew their transfer interest in West Ham United attacker Mohammed Kudus.
The Ghana international has established himself as a key part of the West Ham side since he arrived from Dutch giants Ajax in the summer of 2023.
Kudus was particularly impressive in his first season with the Hammers, netting 18 goals and providing 10 assists in 48 competitive matches.
The 24-year-old has been unable to reach those heights in the current campaign, having mustered four goals and three assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.
Kudus’s underwhelming form has not stopped him from being linked with a potential move away from the London Stadium at the end of the season.
Arsenal renew Kudus interest
According to talkSPORT, Arsenal are showing ‘fresh interest’ in pursuing a deal to sign Kudus in the upcoming transfer market.
The Gunners are said to be long-term admirers of Kudus and are now considering him as a potential target for the summer window.
West Ham are said to be willing to part ways with a player who is under contract until the summer of 2028, with an option to extend by a further 12 months.
The Hammers are looking to sanction a sale to bolster their transfer funds, and it remains to be seen whether they will be willing to negotiate a fee below Kudus’s release clause.
There is a belief that Arsenal are not willing to pay as high as the £85m release clause due to the player’s disappointing form this season.
Do Arsenal need to sign Kudus?
The Gunners may have some concerns about Kudus’ low output this season, although there are very few West Ham players who have performed to their best level in what has proven to be a forgettable campaign for the club.
The former Ajax man demonstrated in his first season with the Hammers that he can produce his best form in the Premier League.
Kudus would add valuable depth to Mikel Arteta‘s squad, especially as he can play as a winger, an attacking midfielder and a striker.
As a result of his versatility, Kudus would offer cover in a variety of attacking areas, while he also possesses the ability to fight for a regular starting spot.
