Gary Lineker thinks Bodo/Glimt have a ‘significant advantage’ heading into second leg with Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur will travel to Norway to take on Bodo/Glimt in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final clash.

Spurs were impressive in the first leg at home. Brennan Johnson scored within the first minute of the game before James Maddison and Dominic Solanke put them 3-0 up.

Bodo/Glimt pulled a goal back late in the clash and will take that to the second leg, but Tottenham still remain the favourites to reach the final.

However, Gary Lineker has spotted an advantage Bodo might have over Spurs in the game on Thursday night.

Gary Lineker says Bodo/Glimt have a ‘significant advantage’ in the second leg vs Tottenham

Tottenham haven’t had a great season at all.

Spurs have had a shocking domestic campaign. They are in the bottom five in the Premier League table and crashed out of the two cups as well.

But, the Europa League could save their season. Winning the competition will not just end their 17-year trophy drought but will also help them get into the Champions League next term.

A 3-1 lead in the first leg is often enough to win the tie, but Bodo/Glimt are a very difficult side to face when they are at home.

The game at the Aspmyra Stadion will be played on astroturf, which is not something that Premier League sides will be very used to.

That, according to Lineker, gives Bodo/Glimt an advantage over Spurs.

On the Rest is Football podcast, Micah Richards said: “Bodo/Glimt, their record in Europe is something like, they’ve not lost in Europe at home for like 30-odd games or something like that. It’s ridiculous!

Alan Shearer added: “On the astroturf as well!”

Lineker then replied: That’s probably why (their home record is good), though, isn’t it? That’s a significant advantage!”

What Bodo/Glimt did to Jose Mourinho at home should be a warning to Tottenham

Not many in Europe’s big leagues would’ve really heard of Bodo/Glimt.

The Norwegian side are based in the city of Bodo, whose population is less than the capacity of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Despite their small size, Bodo/Glimt are a dangerous side when they are playing at home, and Tottenham should not take them lightly.

Spurs’ old boss, Jose Mourinho, learned that the hard way back in 2021, when he took his AS Roma side to the Aspmyra Stadion in suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat.

Ange Postecoglou should show his players that result to make sure that they will take the second leg seriously despite having a 3-1 lead.
