Liverpool could fund summer spending by sanctioning 3 transfer exits worth $106M

Liverpool could look to recoup around £80million ($107M) from the sale of academy graduates this summer, according to reports.

The Reds are anticipating a busy summer in terms of incomings and outgoings, as Arne Slot plots Liverpool’s defense of the title and begins to shape his squad in the post- Jurgen Klopp era. He opted against making any major signings last year after arriving from Feyenoord, only adding Federico Chiesa, who is yet to start a Premier League game. But Slot has already said there will be additions this summer.

Liverpool’s financial position is healthy despite announcing a pre-tax loss of £57M ($72M) earlier this year. Balancing the books is a concern for all Premier League clubs, and the Reds could help finance any expensive outlays by allowing fringe members of the squad to depart.

A recent report in The Athletic claims Caoimhin Kelleher, Tyler Morton and Ben Doak could fetch the club significant income.

With Giorgi Mamardashvili set to arrive in the summer and Kelleher admitting in the past that he wants to be a no.1, a summer departure is on the cards. That he only has a year remaining on his Liverpool deal means this summer represents the last time to earn a decent transfer fee on the goalkeeper.

The report claims he is valued at around £30M ($40M) and “will leave Liverpool this summer”.

As for Morton, he has endured a difficult campaign due to injury and a lack of selection. He has played just five senior games this season and dropped back to represent the Under-21s for their final two matches of the campaign.

The 22-year-old was linked with a January exit and is “expected to leave this summer”. He could cost around £20M ($27M).

The final academy graduate to be linked with a departure is Doak. The attacker enjoyed an encouraging loan spell at Middlesbrough this term but didn’t feature after January due to injury.

He was another linked with a January move. The teenager reportedly attracted interest from the likes of Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town.

Mohamed Salah’s decision to remain at Liverpool could limit Doak’s first-team opportunities given he is a left-footed right winger.
