Berta could now cause panic in Liverpool’s camp by signing £50m star for Arsenal who blew Slot away – opinion

One of Andrea Berta’s primary remits as Arsenal’s brand-new sporting director will be to make the right signings that can help Arsenal knock Liverpool off their perch.

However, Arne Slot possesses some of the best players in the world at his disposal and as this season has shown, it is a tall task to go toe-to-toe with them.

But this Arsenal side is also one of utmost quality and considering how close they have been to winning the Premier League title in recent years, only a few fresh faces could get them over the line.

Andrea Berta wishes to sign a striker — a position which the Gunners perhaps need more than post while in midfield, Arsenal feel Martin Zubimendi’s acquisition is a done deal already as well.

However, Berta is seemingly not just looking at signing the obvious bit-hitters, with Arsenal ready to sign Mohammed Kudus as well provided the asking price is not more than £50 million.

Arsenal could make Liverpool nervous if they sign Mohammed Kudus

Arne Slot called Mohammed Kudus “incredible” after Liverpool’s recent 2-1 win against West Ham United and Arsenal could have the chance to sign him on a £35 million discount — considering his release clause is worth £85 million.

However, Arsenal could cause Liverpool to panic by signing Kudus — who would be an incredible addition for multiple reasons.

First and foremost, Kudus has everything in his arsenal and at 24, his ceiling remains sky-high — as the Hammers attacker is blessed with incredible technical ability, searing pace and a knack for winning games singlehandedly.

But what would especially delight Mikel Arteta is that the Ghanaian international could solve one of his primary issues in providing cover for both Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard at right-wing and attacking midfield respectively.

As Kudus showed against Liverpool, he is a player who can manipulate the ball at will in central areas, dart past opponents for fun and shrug off any pressure — which would especially be for an Arsenal side that lack dynamism in the middle of the park and he could partner Odegaard as a left-sided number 10.

Kudus’ incredible solo goal against Freiburg last year also shows how phenomenal of a ball-carrier he is — a trait that only Myles Lewis-Skelly shares with him in the middle of the park and one that could help the Gunners break down mid-blocks and even low-blocks at ease.

While this season, the former Ajax forward has not had his best time, the old-adage correctly mentions that “form is temporary, class is permanent” and the West Ham technician has largely made life hell for left-backs in the Premier League due to his quick feet, raw pace and direct approach to the game.

Kudus could hand Arsenal an advantage over Liverpool because they lack a player who is as versatile as him while still having the potential to be world-class in the future within their ranks — as he could add a unique dynamic to Mikel Arteta’s setup and hit newer heights in a superior team.

West Ham already know who they want to sell Mohammed Kudus to

However, once a player of the two-time Eredivisie winner’s ilk becomes available on the market, several suitors circle at the drop of a hat.

Considering the Irons technician’s wealth of experience playing in the Champions League and the Africa Cup of Nations as well, clubs will be aware that he could have an instant impact on proceedings.

West Ham are ready to sell Kudus in the summer, which is good news for Arsenal and potentially even Liverpool if they intend to join the race for his signature.

However, Graham Potter’s side wish to sell one of their main men to the Saudi Pro League as his sale is considered one that could fund their rebuild.

Andrea Berta should convince Arsenal to change their stance and pay over £50 million to sign Kudus if that is what it takes to land a potential game-changer of a signing.
