Al-Hilal are reportedly willing to pay in excess of £107m for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes during this summer’s transfer window.

Fernandes has been exceptional in a hugely disappointing 2024-25 campaign for Man United, with the midfielder managing 19 goals and 18 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions.

The 30-year-old has been instrumental in Man United’s run to the semi-finals of the Europa League, scoring seven times and registering four assists in 12 appearances, with the Red Devils on the verge of reaching the final.

However, there is currently huge speculation surrounding the Portugal international’s future, with Al-Hilal thought to have met with his representatives to discuss the possibility of a summer transfer.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Al-Hilal are prepared to break the British transfer record to sign him, with that figure currently standing at £107m, which Chelsea paid Benfica for Enzo Fernandez in January 2023.

Al-Hilal ‘willing to break British transfer record’ for Fernandes

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has said that Al-Hilal have a ‘genuine interest’ in Fernandes, but there has not yet been any talks between the two clubs, while Man United are planning to keep hold of their skipper.

Selling Fernandes world be incredibly damaging for Man United from a sporting point of view, but it would leave them in a much better position financially, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already made some tough decisions since his arrival as a minority shareholder.

Fernandes will be 31 at the start of next season, and rejecting an offer in excess of £107m would be some move from Man United, who are looking to build a team for the future.

The club would not allow him to move to a Premier League rival, while they would also be reluctant to sell him to a European club where he could potentially come up against them in the future.

However, it could be a case of out of sight, out of mind if Fernandes moves to Al-Hilal, where he would certainly become one of the best-paid footballers in world football and set himself up for some retirement.

Amorim has already made feelings on Fernandes exit clear

When Fernandes was linked with Real Madrid earlier this year, Man United head coach Ruben Amorim made it clear that he was not interested in losing his captain.

“No, it’s not going to happen. He’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him!” Amorim told reporters in March.

“I want Bruno here because we want to win the Premier League again, so we want the best players to continue with us. He’s 30, but he’s still so young, because he plays 55 games every season.

“Between assists and goals, he’s there for 30 at least, so he’s the type of player we want here and he’s not going anywhere.”

However, ultimately, it is not Amorim’s decision to make; Man United must seriously consider any record-breaking offer that does arrive, and if Fernandes signals a desire to leave, then a very difficult decision may need to be made.
