Arsenal are considering a move for Leicester City winger Bilal El Khannouss this summer, TBR Football can share.
El Khannouss signed for Leicester from Belgian side Genk last summer, a player who has played against Arsenal twice this season.
The Morocco international was used sparingly under Steve Cooper when he first arrived in the Premier League, but the 20-year-old is now becoming increasingly influential in matches.
Leicester have already been relegated under Ruud van Nistelrooy’s watch, but El Khannouss has begun to seriously impress on an individual level.
The attacking midfielder is able to play centrally or out on the left, explaining why he’s catching the eye in north London.
Arsenal considering a move for Leicester’s Bilal El Khannouss
That being said, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Arsenal have asked to be kept informed about El Khannouss’ situation.
That’s as far as the Gunners’ interest has gone — they are yet to make a decision on whether they would be prepared to make a bid.
However, El Khannouss is liked at Arsenal and the club believe that the youngster has ‘huge potential’, as he’s beginning to demonstrate on a weekly basis for Leicester.
Although, Arsenal are not the only Premier League side keeping a keen eye on the youngster.
Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion are doing the same — a winger who might follow Jamie Vardy out of the Leicester exit door.
And in addition to the clubs mentioned, Chelsea’s owners BlueCo are considering a move for El Khannouss with the intention to take him to their French side Strasbourg for a year.
Andrea Berta is hunting for a new winger
Leicester paid £21m to sign El Khannouss from Genk last summer, a fee that would be at least recouped if the Moroccan departed this summer.
Andrea Berta is looking at a list of left-wingers at Arsenal right now and the Italian is determined to find a right-footed upgrade.
Berta has held talks with Nico Williams at Athletic Bilbao, and whilst El Khannouss isn’t at the Spaniard’s level, he clearly has a lot of potential.
Of course, Arsenal are interested in Jamie Gittens at Borussia Dortmund too — Berta has been very busy since he arrived at the Emirates Stadium.
Berta and Arsenal are leaving no stone unturned this summer as they look to improve the quality available to Mikel Arteta moving forward.
