The Korean defender has endured a tough season.

Has Bayern Munich run defender Kim Min-jae into the ground — or does the player also bear responsibility for wanting to play through pain?

A report from Sport Bild paints the picture this way. As captured by @iMiaSanMia:

Despite his persistent Achilles tendon problems, Kim Min-jae has never clearly told Vincent Kompany that he can’t play. But now the defender has decided to take more rest in the final games of the season. Regarding his future, Kim has not been told by the club that he should leave. Nevertheless, Bayern would be willing to listen to offers for him [@altobelli13, @cfbayern]

BFW Analysis

Players always want to play, and at some point team staff has to intervene to stop them. But we don’t really have information enough to be pointing fingers — there are judgment calls and Korea appears to feel differently about it than both Kim and Bayern.

But the center-back’s tough season and his apparent sale block status is perhaps a lesson for other players that sometimes, gritting your teeth and suffering doesn’t pay.
