Manchester United have reportedly received a boost in the race for Brentford attacker Bryan Mbuemo.
The 25-year-old has been forced to step up to the role as main forward for the Bees this season following the departure of Ivan Toney from the club last summer.
Mbuemo has provided plenty of magical moments in West London this season, scoring 18 goals and providing six assists across 35 Premier League appearances.
Since making the switch to the second-tier Bees in August of 2019, the Cameroonian has scored 68 goals in 239 matches, helping the club reach the Premier League.
After three straight wins in the top flight, Thomas Frank‘s side are ninth in the Premier League table, targeting an unlikely spot in Europe.
“Likely to go” – Brentford captain provides Mbuemo update
Mbuemo is supposedly wanted by a host of Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window, including Ruben Amorim‘s Manchester United.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Brentford captain Christian Norgaard provided an interesting update on the future of the club’s leading marksman.
“I think Bryan [Mbeumo] is likely to go. I don’t know about (Yoane) Wissa yet,” said Norgaard when asked about players potentially leaving this summer.
“Everyone still hopes he might stay. Either way I’m happy for the season they’ve had, both of them, because they deserve it so much.”
Previous reports have suggested that Mbuemo will be available for £60m during the transfer window, putting top clubs on high alert ahead of June.
As well as Man United, it is understood that Champions League-competing Arsenal and Premier League champions Liverpool are also exploring moves for the player.
Brentford’s remaining fixtures
If Brentford are unable to secure European football for next season, it is extremely hard to imagine the Bees keeping hold of top players such as Mbuemo.
The 25-year-old could have three final matches as part of the West London club, starting with a visit to Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.
A six-pointer against Fulham is scheduled for May 18, before Brentford conclude their 2024-25 league campaign by travelling to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
