The young Bayern Munich goalkeeper could become a champion of both the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga.
Jonas Urbig has shown signs of massive potential during his time at Bayern Munich thus far. Signed from FC Köln, the young goalkeeper has stepped up to stand in for the legendary Manuel Neuer and impressed fans and club executives already. Due to his performance, Urbig might actually earn two domestic titles this season.
Thanks to his involvement with FC Köln in the 2. Bundesliga, Urbig is set to win the league title should Köln win the league over Hamburg and the rest of the competition. A unique domestic double that has only been achieved two other times in German football history. A feat that would be shared with Pasi Rautainen and Frank Hartmann who both accomplished this with Bayern Munich as well.
”I would be extremely happy if FC Köln became champions of the 2. Bundesliga. I’ll cross all my fingers for them. That’s important, also for the club,” Urbig told kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Despite some mistakes, Urbig is showing all the right stuff. Although this season wasn’t as successful as many had hoped, there are signs of promise ahead. Urbig is one of them. With Urbig reportedly splitting time with Neuer next season, the reins might be handed off to the Köln product sooner than anticipated.
