Bayern Munich has a lot of irons in the fire…

Bayern wants Schick (Sport Bild via @iMiaSanMia)

In the past, Bayern Munich was linked to Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick, but now those whispers might be getting a bit louder per Sport Bild.

While Schick would likely be considered an ideal back-up for Harry Kane, it seems a little doubtful that the 29-year-old would be willing to accept a move to be a seldom-used reserve:

Bayern are interested in Patrik Schick as a potential Harry Kane backup. The club has enquired to the Czech striker’s management on whether a move to Munich is conceivable for him. Bayer Leverkusen would be willing to sell Schick for €25m. But it remains to be seen whether that price applies to Bayern too, since the relationship between Max Eberl and Fernando Carro is strained.

The Florian Wirtz situation is likely an issue as well, but it feels like Schick is ready to be some club’s No. 1 striker, not a caddy to Kane. It is a nice thought, though.

Hamann urges to United to make play for Palhinha (TEAMtalk)

Noted pundit Didi Hamann thinks Manchester United should make a player for Bayern Munich midfielder João Palhinha:

Ex-Liverpool and Bayern star Didi Hamann has now claimed the 29-year-old could be a transformative signing for United’s fortunes under Ruben Amorim.

He said (via Goal): “I think João Palhinha could be a great fit for Manchester United because they need steel in the middle of the park. He does the work in the engine room and there is where games are won and lost for United. They have looked weak there at times and I think Palhinha would improve them.

“Things haven’t gone to plan for him at Bayern Munich because Vincent Kompany decided that Joshua Kimmich needed to be back in the middle, the one deficiency in his game is probably his work on the ball and that’s so important at Bayern when they are dominating games.

“He is probably a player to use in the biggest games against the best teams so he can frustrate the opposition. He has rarely started and also had an injury, I think he will part ways with the club in the summer and it’s a question of how much money Bayern can get back.”

Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: Bayern Munich vs. Gladbach (Bavarian Football Works)

Kimmich had major family considerations before inking new deal with Bayern (Süddeutsche Zeitung via @iMiaSanMia)

In a recent interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung, Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich talked through the complexities of making a decision on his new contract in Bavaria:

• But wasn’t it clear from the start that you would stay at FC Bayern? With a big family, you can’t just move to Paris.

Kimmich: “My wife made it clear that I should make a career decision, but she’s already very happy in Munich. At the financial level of a professional footballer, you can live well anywhere, but as I said, we feel at home in Munich. And of course, this is also the best place for us to focus on our off-pitch activities, such as our “Believe in Yourself” foundation, which is very important to us. And a football academy that supports children and young people in following a similar path to me, and in which I will be heavily involved starting this summer.”

It always seems to be overlooked, but each player has more to consider than just money or comfort. Families play a massive role in how decisions get made.

Sané recognized during tumultuous week (@WhoScored)

It has been a heck of a week for Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané, eh? Aside of his Pini Zahavi drama, the Germany international was named to WhoScored.com’s Europe’s Top 5 Leagues Team of the Week:

Real eyeing Hernández (Diario AS via ESPN)

With Trent Alexander-Arnold already incoming, Real Madrid is also looking at AC Milan left-back Theo Hernández:

Theo Hernández is one of the left-back options Real Madrid are looking. The AC Milan defender, 27, would be a “low cost” alternative who’s at his peak, and would be open to a return to the club he joined in 2017 before leaving for Serie A in 2019. Hernández’s deal at Milan is up in 2026, making him an accessible option.

One issue with this report is that there is nothing about Hernández that reeks of “low cost.”

Rummenigge hoping to see Musiala-Wirtz combo at Bayern (Corriere della Sera via @iMiaSanMia)

When asked about the prospect of pairing Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz in Bayern Munich legend Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is excited about the thought of it happening.

“I hope so, it would be a great coup for us to be able to convince Wirtz and Leverkusen. He and Musiala are the faces of German football and our philosophy has always been to bring the best German players to Bayern,” said Rummenigge said.

Juve makes Osimhen the priority (ESPN)

Juventus seems to really want Victor Osimhen:

Juventus have made Victor Osimhen their priority for the summer transfer window, reports Calciomercato, and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli will soon start work on a deal for the Napoli striker currently on loan at Galatasaray. The 26-year-old has a €75 million release clause, which means Juventus will face competition for Osimhen, even if they are the frontrunners to sign him.

Chelsea mapping summer plans (ESPN)

Chelsea is in need of some roster turnover and might be developing a plan to make it happen this summer:

Sky Sports have offered an insight into the players Chelsea are tracking. Up front, they are looking at Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško and Lille’s Jonathan David. On the wing, it’s Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, while the defenders they’re focusing on aside from Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen are Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi.

Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: RB Leipzig 3-3 Bayern Munich (Bavarian Football Works)

Bayern Munich traveled to RB Leipzig and earned a tough 3-3 draw in a match that will not leave either side satisfied. Bayern Munich needed the win to clinch the title, while RB Leipzig needed three points to help keep its European hopes alive.

The Bavarians fell behind, then fought all the way back to take the lead…and collapsed in an utterly deflating fashion. What a mess…

Let’s talk about all of that and more on the Bavarian Podcast Work — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:

  • A look at the starting XI and our thoughts on the patchwork lineup. Injuries and a suspension to Harry Kane were obstacles.
  • A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
  • Some final thoughts and takeaways on the match.
