TBR Football understands that Ibrahima Konate’s new contract talks are still not progressing as Liverpool would like – they have been fairly constant since the turn of the year.
Liverpool are somewhat concerned that their talks with the defender are not moving forward as they approach yet another contract standoff.
The Reds are eager not to get dragged into another situation where one of their stars has just 12 months left on his deal, having gone through the same situation with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
However, it is increasingly likely they are indeed facing that scenario with the French international as a gap remains between the two parties.

Ibrahima Konate wants a significant pay rise to make him one of the highest earners in Liverpool’s squad, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.
The 25-year-old wants his deal with the Reds to recognise his level as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
Konate has established himself as a key part of Arne Slot’s team alongside Virgil van Dijk as the Reds won their 20th league title.
Now, in order to commit his future to Merseyside beyond the summer of 2026, the defender is demanding to be made one of the club’s highest-paid players.
What clubs are interested in Ibrahima Konate?
Konate is not short of alternative options with Real Madrid keen on him, but they are not alone, with Bayern Munich and PSG very keen – they are all huge admirers.
Madrid want to sign a new central defender and could wait until 2026 if they felt they could bring in the Frenchman as a free agent.
TBR Football has also been told that Chelsea and Manchester City are keeping a watching brief on his contract situation.
