Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed his starting side for Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Athletic Bilbao, as the Red Devils bid to book their spot in the final of the competition.
The home side are in a commanding position in the tie, having run out 3-0 winners in the first leg at San Mames last week.
The 20-time English champions will now be aiming to secure a spot in the final against either Tottenham Hotspur or Bodo/Glimt, with the showpiece event set to take place at San Mames on May 21.
As expected, Amorim has selected the same XI that took to the field for the first leg in Bilbao, with Victor Lindelof gaining another start at the back due to the fact that Diogo Dalot and Matthijs de Ligt are both out due to injury problems.
Noussair Mazraoui missed out against Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday due to muscular fatigue, but the Morocco international is back in the starting side as the right-sided wing-back.
Amorim names identical Man United side from first leg
Rasmus Hojlund will lead the line for the 20-time English champions, with Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho operating as the number 10s, while Casemiro features in the middle of midfield alongside Manuel Ugarte.
It is the XI that was expected to start at OId Trafford, with Amad Diallo being used carefully after a spell out through injury, while the same can also be said for both Luke Shaw and Mason Mount, who will provide options from the bench.
Ayden Heaven, Toby Collyer, Joshua Zirkzee and Lisandro Martinez are on the sidelines alongside De Ligt and Dalot.
Athletic missing four key players at Old Trafford
As for Athletic, the Lions are without the services of key centre-back Dani Vivian, who was sent off against Man United in the first leg.
Ernesto Valverde‘s side also travelled to Manchester without the services of their three leading goalscorers this season in the shape of Oihan Sancet, Inaki Williams and Nico Williams.
The trio have scored 39 goals between them during the 2024-25 campaign, but injuries have ruled them out, meaning that there are spots in the final third of the field for Alvaro Djalo and Unai Gomez.
Alex Berenguer will switch across to the left after operating as a number 10 in the first leg, while Maroan Sannadi will again lead the line for an Athletic side that need a minor miracle at Old Trafford in order to advance to the final.
