Thomas Partey says Kai Havertz is Arsenal’s most underrated playerTwo injuries ruined Arsenal this season

Mikel Arteta has built a terrific team over the last few years, and although they haven’t won any big trophies yet, it’s clear to see that they are not far off.

The likes of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and William Saliba often get the big plaudits, and rightly so. But, there are others who don’t get the credit they deserve.

Thomas Partey is one of those, but he thinks there’s a player at Arsenal who is even more underrated than him.

Thomas Partey says Kai Havertz is Arsenal’s most underrated player

Arsenal signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.

Many fans of the Emirates Stadium club were against that move, but Arteta was adamant that he wanted the Germany international.

Edu Gaspar, who was the sporting director at the time, agreed and sealed a whopping £65 million deal to bring him in.

Havertz had a slow start to life as a Gunner, but since the turn of 2024, he has become one of their most important players.

Arsenal fans fell in love with Havertz, and his absence over the last few months has shown how much weaker the Gunners are without him.

Partey, who has played with and against Havertz, sees him in training every day, and he believes that the German is seriously underappreciated.

In a video on Footy Culture, when asked to name the most underrated player at Arsenal, Partey said: “Kai Havertz. I think he works so hard and (for) people, it’s hard to see.”

Two injuries ruined Arsenal this season

Losing Havertz due to injury was a massive blow.

The German was one of the first names on the team sheet every week, but following his injury, Arsenal have lacked a natural focal point up top.

Another injury that has seriously hurt Arsenal is the one Gabriel Magalhaes suffered. The Brazilian was arguably the player of the season before he hurt himself, and his absence is being felt.

Arsenal are no longer as organised at the back as before, and William Saliba doesn’t look like his usual self either without his centre-back partner.

One can only wonder what Arsenal’s season would look like right now if both Gabriel and Havertz had been available all season.
