We’ve gone and won the league!

Match Information

Location: Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany

Kickoff: 3:30 PM Local time, 9:30 AM PDT, 6:30 AM EDT

Bayern Munich is officially champions of the Bundesliga following Bayer Leverkusen’s draw with Freiburg, which means Bayern’s gap to Leverkusen can’t be caught. For the first time in a while, the Bavarians will celebrate the trophy at the Allianz Arena which happens to be Thomas Müller’s and Eric Dier’s final home game with the club (Dier has signed for Monaco). The two of them, along with Harry Kane, will celebrate some firsts and lasts in terms of individual accomplishments.

Team news

At this point, it’s about getting rhythm in for the FIFA Club World Cup which begins next month but at the same time trying to avoid complacency. All absentees at this point are unlikely to play for the last league game of the season and will race against time to be fit for the CWC.

Jonas Urbig starts in goal, with a makeshift defense of Konrad Laimer, Eric Dier, Josip Stanisic, and Sacha Boey in front of him. Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović partner in midfield, while Michael Olise, Thomas Müller (in his final home match), and Kingsley Coman sit behind Harry Kane.

While you’re here, do consider listening to our Preview Show! With the Bundesliga title already wrapped up, there could be a lot of changes mixed in with the expected beer showers — and hopefully a proper send off at the Allianz Arena for Thomas Müller. Let’s take a look at what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show:

  • A look at where each team is in the table and also a look back at the first match.
  • A look at the injury and suspension situations for both teams.
  • Will Bayern Munich do anything special for Müller.
  • A guess at Bayern Munich’s starting XI.
  • A prediction on the match.
