The former midfielder left his mark at Bayer Leverkusen…
Former Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso is set to leave his post at Bayer Leverkusen in just a few weeks to join Real Madrid per Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Alonso would be taking over for legendary Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who had a brief stint as manager at Bayern Munich as well:

Alonso helped transform Bayer Leverkusen from “also ran” to powerhouse during his time with the club, which included a Bundesliga championship and a DFB-Pokal title during the 2023/24 campaign. Alonso was also rumored to be a candidate for the vacant Bayern Munich job last summer before opting to stay with Leverkusen. Bayern Munich, of course, ultimately hired Vincent Kompany.
