This is a huge deal…

German automaker Audi has been one of Bayern Munich’s sponsors since 2002, owning a minority stake in the club on par with Adidas. The Rekordmeister is famous for using a red Audi for transporting new signings from the airport to the club’s facilities and giving each player their own cars to drive to training. However, another automaker wants in on the action:

There’s speculation, though still unconfirmed, that BMW might buy Audi’s shares at FC Bayern and replace it as shareholder and main car sponsor, even before the end of the partnership contract between Bayern and Audi in 2029.

Fellow Bavarian brand BMW is planning to completely take over Audi’s business with the club. It won’t be the first time that BMW tried something like this; BFW covered this way back in 2018 when there was a tug-of-war between the two brands which Audi ultimately won.
