Bayern Munich is looking to close the season strong…

Schweini tells Wirtz to skip on City…at least for now (GiveMeSport)

If anyone can give some context on the proper time to move to England, it is former Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

With his experience in playing abroad in both England and the United States, Schweinsteiger thinks that Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz might want to think hard about the timing of when to make the move to another country:

Germany legend Bastian Schweinsteiger has told Florian Wirtz he should avoid signing for Manchester City and stay in the Bundesliga, while speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT.

The Bayer Leverkusen sensation has been linked with a big-money move away from the Bundesliga side this summer after helping lead the side to a first league title last season, before staying put for this season to see them lose their crown to rivals Bayern Munich with games to spare.

“First of all, we’re very happy to have him in Germany, same as Musiala. Two outstanding players at a young age already, you can see, but now it’s like, what’s next for him at Leverkusen? He’s very happy, he’s a key player over there obviously. They are doing really well. They play fantastic football, I must say. It’s difficult to play Leverkusen.

“Obviously Bayern Munich would love to have him in their squad. It would be fantastic. But it’s not easy. Nowadays, those players cost a lot of money as well, so you have to think about it. But for him, actually, you know, he already had a big injury to his ACL, and he recovered well. So I wish him all the best.

“I don’t know if now is the right moment for him to move abroad. I don’t know if that’s the right move, because maybe at a young age, you have to go step by step. From my experience, it was also very good to leave the club later. For me, it was very important to win the Champions League trophy first and have success with Bayern Munich, and then when the top is done, to experience another culture, another mentality – that was important for me. So he’s 21 or 22 I think, still young. So let’s hope he’s healthy and helps Germany to win the World Cup.”

Right now, it looks like Bayern Munich is in the driver’s seat to make the move a reality. Can the deal get over the finish line?

Kimmich talks how close he was to leaving Bayern (@iMiaSanMia)

When asked about how close he was to moving away from Bayern Munich, Joshua Kimmich talked through how it all went down.

“My situation was special because my contract was going to expire in the summer and I was allowed to speak to clubs from January 1st. That was new to me because I had always extended my contract 2 or 2.5 years before. I never spoke to other clubs before [this year]. I thought about it a lot because it was very important to me to make a decision actively for FC Bayern. I wanted to know all my options, consider them and then decide the best for me and my family,” said Kimmich.

NUFC in on race for Tah (ESPN)

Newcastle United has joined Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona, Manchester United, and Real Madrid as clubs interested in Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jonathan Tah:

Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, The Sun reports. The Germany international is set to become a free agent this summer and has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona. However, the proposed move has stalled in recent weeks, which could potentially open the door to a Premier League switch. Alongside the Magpies, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the 29-year-old.

Hainer to run for third term? (t-online via @iMiaSanMia)

According to a report from t-online’s Julian Buhl, Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer could run for a third term:

Herbert Hainer is likely to run for a third term as Bayern president when his current term ends in November. Hainer is highly valued internally, especially for the steady hand with which he leads the club. Therefore, there’s absolutely no reason from the club’s perspective that he should step down. Hainer, meanwhile, has not made a clear public commitment so far. Final decision expected after the end of the season.

Napoli eyeing De Bruyne, Grealish (ESPN)

Napoli might be ready to challenge Liverpool FC and the various MLS teams interested in Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne:

Napoli could rival Liverpool for Kevin De Bruyne’s signature this summer, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. The Manchester City midfielder will move on when his contract ends in July, and he has also been heavily linked with a move to MLS. However, Di Marzio asserts that De Bruyne wants to stay in Europe and that Liverpool have already tabled a contract. Napoli are now preparing to make an offer to the Belgium international’s representatives. The Serie A club are “seriously trying” to land De Bruyne, and hope his long-time friend, Romelu Lukaku, will persuade the 33-year-old to join him in Naples.

In addition to De Bruyne, Napoli might also be kicking the tires on Manchester City’s Jack Grealish:

Napoli are being linked with another Manchester City player, with Jack Grealish wanted by the Serie A leaders. The Sun reports that the 29-year-old is open to a move to Italy after falling down the pecking order at the Etihad. Napoli boss Antonio Conte is a “huge fan,” but uncertainty about the coach’s future does place a deal in some doubt. AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are also linked to the winger. Grealish has made only seven Premier League starts this season.

Bayern not only club eyeing Schick (CaughtOffside)

Bayern Munich is rumored to have interest in Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrick Schick, but so do Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, and Manchester United:

Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all have an interest in the potential transfer of Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick this summer.

Sources close to the situation have informed CaughtOffside that all three Premier League clubs are closely monitoring Schick’s situation, with Leverkusen likely to be willing to listen to offers in the region of €30-40m for the Czech Republic international.

How would Robbery look in Kompany’s system? (FCBayern.comn via @iMiaSanMia)

When asked how “Robbery” would look playing in Vincent Kompany’s system, Arjen Robben said he and Franck Ribéry would have been just fine.

“If you’re a good footballer, you can function in any system. You may have to adapt more or less at times, depending on the coach’s mindset. But ultimately, it’s about quality. Every player brings different qualities to the table, and that was the case with me too. Javi Martínez and Bastian Schweinsteiger were completely different types of players,” said Robben. “A good example of that was the time when Pep Guardiola came to FC Bayern. There was a lot of discussion about tiki-taka and positioning. At some point, people said: Maybe Robben doesn’t fit in because he takes on too many 1v1 situations. But then everything worked out perfectly because, as a player, you adapt.”

Šeško release clause increases (@Plettigoal via ESPN)

It is going to be very difficult to get Benjamin Šeško this summer, but now there is a figure attached to his release clause with RB Leipzig — €80 million:

The release clause in Benjamin Šeško’s RB Leipzig contract is now €80m “due to his performances and flexibility within the contract.” However, the saw Q Bundesliga club may be ready to negotiate a fee for the in-demand striker below that figure.
