Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are set to lock horns in the Europa League final in Bilbao at the end of the month.

The Red Devils once again made light work of Athletic Bilbao to deprive the Liga side of a spot in a final at their own stadium.

Meanwhile, Tottenham successfully navigated a tricky game away at Bodo/Glimt’s plastic pitch to join Manchester United in the showpiece encounter.

Paul Scholes is confident Man United will beat Tottenham in the final, but some Red Devils fans are not so sure, with one thing in particular making them nervous.

Manchester United fans acknowledge Tottenham have beaten them three times already this season

Man United fans are well aware that their team has endured a nightmare season at domestic level.

And while the same is certainly true of Spurs, their head-to-head this season is very heavily in the north Londoners’ favour.

Man United have lost both of their league games against Tottenham by a 4-0 aggregate scoreline, and also lost 4-3 in the Carabao Cup.

“Genuinely worried about Spurs in the final,” one fan wrote on X.

“They will be better than what we’ve faced so far. Already beaten us 3 times this season. Going to be a horrible game.”

Another fan said: “I’m worried, because Spurs beat United 3 times both teams met this season. I don’t know how.”

Why does it have to be Spurs man 😭 already beaten us 3 times this season

The concerns kept coming, with one supporter writing: “Champions League football next season is all I want, Spurs has beaten us 3 times this season though.”

Another fan said: “Spurs have cooked us 3 times already this year. I’m nervous.”

Ruben Amorim earned a second season for me, irrespective of the final. Whether fans want to admit it or not, Spurs have better attackers than us so I expect to lose. You don’t lose 3 times to a team and expect to win due to “heritage”.

Another supporter wrote: “Don’t write off Spurs. They have beaten us 3 times and it would be like these players to bottle it against the bottlers.”

What Ruben Amorim has said about losing to Tottenham three times this season ahead of final

Amorim is well aware that Man United have lost three times to Spurs this season, and he was reminded of this once again after his side’s win over Bilbao.

“First of all, you have to think about the odds, it is hard for a team to lose four times in a row,” he told TNT Sports.

“So we can think about it in that way. We need to have a full squad and to study the game quite well.

“We need to have a little bit of luck. Today we conceded a goal, but we had so many transitions to score and we didn’t. We have to be clinical in that game.”

Amorim also said of both sides’ struggles in the league: “It is quite similar, even for me and Ange. It is a tough moment.

“One of us is going to win. It is going to be a big final, we are going to try to win.”
