Looking to record back-to-back wins for the first time under the reign of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Leicester City travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Foxes ended an 11-game winless spell in the top flight with a 2-0 success over Southampton last weekend, when Jamie Vardy and Jordan Ayew found the net against the sorry Saints.

Leicester have three games remaining of a wretched Premier League term before they can begin to recover ahead of the Championship next term, with a trip across the East Midlands on the immediate agenda.

Nottingham Forest will welcome the already-relegated Foxes to the City Ground, where there remains hope of enjoying Champions League nights next season.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s men have only won one of their last five Premier League matches but sit just two points behind Chelsea in the lowest of the top-five places.

Here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two sides.

Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 110
Nott’m Forest wins: 42
Draws: 27
Leicester wins: 41

Throughout the course of time, there have been a grand total of 110 meetings between Nottingham Forest and Leicester City, with the head-to-head record making for fascinating reading.

Owing to the relative sizes of the clubs, it is no surprise to see that the two teams are extremely close in the record books, with the Tricky Trees winning on 42 occasions compared to the Foxes’ 41.

Such similarities between the sides have not always been the case, though, with Forest winning each of their first six meetings with Leicester, starting with a 5-1 FA Cup victory in February 1901.

That fruitful spell over the Foxes ran from 1901 until 1911 and included a 12-0 triumph for the City Ground club, which remains as their record league win.

The bragging rights in the East Midlands have swung dramatically over the past century or so, with Leicester enjoying a 13-game unbeaten run in the fixture between 1913 and 1946.

One of the most notable clashes between the sides, the Foxes beat the Tricky Trees 3-2 at the City Ground in May 2013 courtesy of a last-minute Anthony Knockaert goal, securing a spot in the Championship playoffs for Leicester.

Nottingham Forest have had the upper hand in this fixture in recent times, winning three of the last four meetings, including a 3-1 victory at the King Power Stadium in October 2024.
