The former Hamburg player is excited on the prospect of playing his former club next season.
The 2. Bundesliga has quickly become recognized as one of the most interesting competitions in the world. The stadiums packed with over 60,000 fans, passion, historic clubs, and the most competitive promotion fight in the world, the league is pure electricity. Once again, Hamburg find themselves in the thick of things, fighting desperately for promotion for the seventh straight year.
Yes, you heard that right. Hamburg have finished 3rd or 4th in the table consecutively each year, since the 2018/19 season. Often times missing out on promotion by just one point, but close only counts in horseshoes.
Vincent Kompany formerly played for HSV and is clearly excited about the prospect of them returning to the top flight.
Kompany on his former club HSV potentially being promoted back to the Bundesliga this weekend: “I still follow HSV and crossing my fingers for them. I love Munich, but Hamburg was also a great city. I’d love to face HSV twice next season” pic.twitter.com/F5UlskY3n9

It would be quite a story to see Kompany face off against Hamburg twice each season, and the majority of football fans are eagerly awaiting their return. Could Hamburg return to their former glory or will the club stay put in the 2. Bundesliga for yet another year?
