Tottenham paid Leeds £30million to bring Gray to North London and it has certainly proven a shrewd investment thus far.

Not only has Gray featured prominently for Tottenham, but he also covered admirably at centre-back during Spurs’ injury crisis in defence.

Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has now spoken about Gray as he chose between the most talented youngsters he has played alongside.

Liam Delap says Tottenham star Archie Gray has ‘so much potential’

Delap is the latest guest on Sky Sports’ Sticker Book show and he was asked to pick the top player out of several four-man shortlists.

One of those was Academy Ace, in which he discussed the best players he has played alongside at club or international level.

Archie Gray was one of the picks alongside Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

Delap, who has played alongside Gray for England’s Under-21s, praised the Tottenham man’s potential.

“Archie, recently obviously just played with him a few times for England,” began Delap, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham.

“He’s still so young, so much potential. I played against him a few times this season and he’s so good.”

When it came to his final pick, Delap went for Bellingham.

There’s certainly no shame in losing out to Bellingham, who is a generational talent with 91 appearances for Real Madrid and 42 England caps at just 21 years of age.

Nevertheless, Gray has shown he has what it takes to reach Bellingham-esque levels over the coming years.

Back in March, Goal.com published their NxGn 2025 list of the world’s best young footballers, and Gray is in the top 20 – specifically in 13th place.

Indeed, players from Tottenham make up one tenth of the list of the world’s 50 best young players.

Gray, Yang Min-Hyeok, Luka Vuskovic, Mikey Moore and Lucas Bergvall were all named in the list.
