‘I’ve gone for’: Theo Walcott picks attacker Man Utd sold for £15m over Bukayo Saka

3 Min Read

Theo Walcott has always been a huge fan of Bukayo Saka.

Indeed, Walcott recently picked Saka over Mohamed Salah, and the Arsenal legend has always been full of praise for the England international.

However, speaking to the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Theo Walcott has made an interesting claim about the Arsenal winger.

Walcott was asked to pick his Young Team of the Season in the Premier League, and remarkably, Bukayo Saka was still eligible for selection at the age of just 23.

However, Walcott didn’t pick Saka down his right wing, instead opting to go for Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga after his remarkable season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Theo Walcott picks Anthony Elanga over Bukayo Saka

Walcott picked Elanga down the right wing in his team ahead of Saka.

Manchester United sold Elanga for £15m a couple of years ago, and that’s a decision the Red Devils must surely regret.

“I’ve gone for Gordon down the left. But this is where it’s a bit of a debate for me. I love Saka, my boys love Saka, I want to put Saka in but I can’t put Saka in, the reason why is I’ve gone for Elanga,” Walcott said.

“You say about how Forest have been consistent throughout the season, Elanga, my team suits his style of play. As much as I want to put Saka in, I can’t put him in this team, so I’m going for Gordon and Elanga.”

Bukayo Saka compared to Anthony Elanga

Saka is a world-class player, and, in the eyes of most, he’s considered a better player than Anthony Elanga.

However, it must be said that Elanga deserves credit for how he’s done this season.

Indeed, the stats show that Elanga has been almost as effective as Saka this season.

Of course, the Forest star has played more games than Saka as the Arsenal ace has been injured recently. However,as the old saying goes, the best ability in football is availability.

Walcott has always been a champion of Saka, and the fact that he’s picked Elanga over the Arsenal star here is a testament to how good the Nottingham Forest man has been this season.
