Journalist says he’s been told ‘one of the very best young players’ in the world is joining Chelsea this summer

Chelsea are always massive spenders in the transfer window, and this summer will be no different.

Indeed, Chelsea are already lining up a few exciting signings.

Marc Guehi has been linked to Chelsea, while Liam Delap is also on Chelsea’s radar.

Interestingly, Chelsea already have some exciting deals done too.

Geovany Quenda is joining Chelsea next year, while Willian Estevao is set to join Chelsea this summer.

Speaking on The Transfers Podcast, Duncan Castles has been discussing Estevao’s impending arrival at Chelsea, and he says that he’s been told that this young man is indeed one of the very best young players in the world.

Willian Estevao is one of the best young players in the world

Castles spoke with Jonathan Northcroft about this young player and his potential.

Both journalists have heard that Estevao is an exciting prospect, with Castles stating that he’s heard Estevao is one of the best young players in the world.

“And the one thing I’m really interested in seeing at Chelsea next season is the arrival of Estevao from Brazil, who multiple people are telling me is one of the very best young players in world football. So it’s going to be fascinating to see him in the English league and see how they manage to integrate him and whether they can give him a good pathway. And use that talent appropriately,” Castles said.

“Yeah. Yeah. I mean, he’s one, like you Duncan, I’ve heard unilaterally people from who know the Brazil market well going, wow, they’ve got a good one there.

“They’ve got a really good one there. And I think Kennedy Paez is also due to arrive. So yeah, it makes no sense to, it would make no sense to suddenly change manager, to suddenly bring in a whole heap more experienced players because you’ve got this project around young players and you’ve got a talent like Estevao arriving.”

Chelsea past signings from Brazil

Estevao arrives at Chelsea with a lot of hype surrounding him, but, it has to be said, we have been here before.

Indeed, Chelsea have signed wonderkids from Brazil in the past that have been seriously hyped up only for these deals not to work out.

Chelsea past signings from Brazil Year signed
Lucas Piazon 2011
Oscar 2012
Wallace 2013
Nathan 2015
Kennedy 2015
Andrey Santos 2023
Deivid Washington 2023

Lucas Piazon was tipped for big things at Stamford Bridge, but it never quite happened for him, Kennedy was in a similar boat, while Nathan was supposed to be an exciting signing but he never even played a game for Chelsea.

Oscar was a bright signing, but he moved to China before he could truly showcase his potential for the Blues.

Recruiting young stars from Brazil can be a great tactic – Vinicius Jr is arguably the best player in the world right now after joining Real Madrid as a teenager.

However, for every Vinicius Jr there’s a Lucas Piazon, and Chelsea can’t get too carried away with these players before they even arrive at the club.
