Aston Villa faced off against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium earlier this evening as they looked to earn a victory on the road in the Premier League. The Villans made a solid start to the game and got their noses ahead in the first half injury-time thanks to Ollie Watkins’ effort. Unai Emery’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.

The West Midlands club defended their narrow lead well in the second half. Jacob Ramsey was sent off by the referee in the 80th minute but Aston Villa hung on and secured a narrow 1-0 win away from home.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player performed during the match against the Cherries.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 8.5/10

He made a few solid saves during the game and earned an important clean sheet this evening.

RB: Matty Cash – 7/10

Cash got stuck in with a few crunching tackles and put his foot through the ball when needed.

CB: Ezri Konsa – 6.5/10

He made a lot of crucial clearances inside his half and would be quite pleased with the clean sheet.

CB: Tyronne Mings – 7/10

Mings kept things tidy on the defensive third of the pitch and was replaced in the 69th minute.

LB: Lucas Digne – 7/10

He performed his defensive responsibilities well and made one decent chance going forward.

CM: Boubacar Kamara – 7/10

Kamara earned the ball back twice and didn’t hesitate to have a strike at goal.

CM: Amadou Onana – 7/10

He anchored the midfield with conviction and made one promising run with the ball.

RW: Morgan Rogers – 7/10

Rogers came back to defend when required and made one decent chance in the final third. He ended the game with an assist to his name.

CAM: Marko Asensio – 6.5/10

He caught the eye at times but failed to pose a threat in the opponent’s half.

LW: Jacob Ramsey – 5/10

Ramsey had a couple of bright moments in the final third but let his teammates down by getting sent off in the 80th minute.

ST: Ollie Watkins – 7/10

Watkins was a real handful for the Bournemouth centre-backs and scored the only goal of the game in the latter stages of the first half.

Substitutes:

CB: Pau Torres – 6/10

Torres was solid at the back.

CM: John McGinn – 6/10

He added some energy to Emery’s midfield.

LB: Ian Maatsen – N/A
