Liverpool are gearing up for an ambitious summer transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad off the back of a Premier League-winning campaign.
Mohamed Salah signed a new contract last month along with Virgil van Dijk, in what is a massive boost for the club ahead of the new season.
Their focus now shifts to bolstering the attacking ranks to ensure they remain competitive both domestically and in Europe next season.
A host of players have been linked with a move to Liverpool, the most recent being a wonderkid from Belgium.
Liverpool considering move for Malick Fofana
According to CaughtOffside, Malick Fofana is a prominent name on the club’s wishlist. While his performances have caught the eye of several top European sides, Liverpool are said to be among the most determined to secure his signature.
Fofana is under contract with Lyon until 2028, but as per the report, he could be available for around £40 million.
Arsenal, PSG, Newcastle, Juventus, and Aston Villa are all said to be monitoring his situation, though the Merseyside club is said to be considering making a ‘serious move’.
This comes amid the uncertain future of Luis Diaz who remains linked with Barcelona.
Another attacker whose future at the club remains in the air is Diogo Jota with Newcastle among the clubs interested in signing him.
With Diaz, Jota and Nunez all possibly leaving at the end of the season, the Reds will need to bolster their attack and Fofana, who is emerging as a highly-rated youngster, could be a great option.
Malick Fofana’s agent names Liverpool as his preferred destination
In what is a boost for Liverpool, Fofana’s agent has recently admitted that Anfield would be the preferred destination if the player is to leave Lyon.
Speaking to Africafoot, the agent said:
“The choice of heart would be Liverpool. He has the potential to enter the rotation, and above all, we would like to see him succeed African legends such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and El Hadji Diouf.
“Now, the choice of reason would be Newcastle, a well-structured club that could be a first step to gain experience before, perhaps, joining a club in the European top five.

“He has the profile to succeed in the Premier League. He possesses qualities similar to those of Manchester United’s Amad Diallo, namely speed, impact, and the ability to create opportunities.
“There’s no doubt he can make a splash. For him, this would be an opportunity to continue his development and, above all, to showcase his talent in a league that favours transitional play. However, he’ll have to choose the right club, as competition is fierce across the Channel.”
