The German veteran thought Bayern Munich fought hard to the end.
In an interview with FCBayern.com, Thomas Müller recently chimed in on Bayern Munich’s heartbreaking defeat against Inter Milan in the Champions League quarter-finals. In the most devastating fashion possible, Bayern Munich failed to achieve their dream of Finale Dahoam. Müller as always, spoke very confidently on the matter.
“We weren’t eliminated from the Champions League because we didn’t perform well on the pitch and were in a really bad phase,” said Müller. “Rather, we had a lot of really good phases and good moments in these Champions League games. But in football, the result – especially against strong opponents – sometimes looks different. That’s independent of how things played over 180 minutes.”
Despite the early exit from the competition, it is clear that Bayern Munich played well. Despite some lapses in concentration, Bayern dominated the tie for the majority over two legs. Ultimately though, the game is won or lost in just a handful of key moments, and Die Roten did not have luck on their side.
There will be no Hollywood ending for Thomas Müller in the Champions League, or at least not with the Bavarians.
